Is supply chain resilience enough?

Adapting to a new risk reality

Established supply chain networks and trade flows are under strain. Procurement and supply chain professionals are working with new rules - described as a "rupture in the world order", by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney earlier this year.

The geopolitical context has evolved since those remarks. While risk management has always been a fundamental skill, we are witnessing a shift in priorities for sourcing decisions and supplier partners.

As part of the CIPS Great Conversation, speakers will explore what this all means for the future of the profession. We'll ask:

  • How do we embed organisational, cultural and human resilience in our teams?
  • How does the remapping of established supply and logistics routes affect procurement?
  • Should we be rephrasing supply chains as "supply webs"? And why does it matter?
  • How do functions go beyond supply chain resilience with supply chain viability?

And come with your questions for the opening session of CIPS Risk & Resilience Week 2026!
